A Simple Relaxation based Circuit Simulator for VLSI Circuits with Emerging Devices

چکیده
This paper presents a circuit simulator based on look-up table approach for simulation of VLSI digital circuits with emerging devices which currently cannot be simulated with existing commercial simulators. We have used a point relaxation based circuit simulator which is suitable for digital circuits. To validate our circuit simulator, we have simulated standard circuits with MOS devices of SPICE level 49 for 0.18 micron technology and results are in very good agreement with a commercial simulator. Further, we have successfully simulated standard circuits with an emerging device, FinFET inverter, chain of FinFET inverters, 31stage ring oscillator of FinFET inverters and read-write operations for FinFET 6-T SRAM cell. Our results match with that of the device simulator. Finally, we have been able to simulate digital circuits with approximately 1.6 million FinFETs (512 × 512 SRAM memory array) using less than 1.7GB working memory (Pentium-4, 3.0GHz).

EMOTA: an event-driven MOS timing simulator for VLSI circuits - Circuits, Devices and Systems, IEE Proceedings G
A novel new event-driven MOS timing simulator for VLSI circuits, EMOTA, is presented. The traditional event-driven simulation scheme used in logic simulation is modified for use in this circuit level timing simulator. The fast performance is due to the result of mixing the new derived event-driven algorithm and its associated time-wheel control mechanism, together with the unidirectional nonlin...

Electrical circuit simulation was one of the first CAD tools developed for IC design. The conventional circuit simulators like SPICE and ASTAP were designed initially for the cost effective analysis of circuits containing a few hundred transistors or less. A number of approaches have been used to improve the performances of congenital circuit simulators for the analysis of large circuits. There...

In this paper we implement a simple DC model for CNTFETs already proposed by us in order to carry out static analysis of basic digital circuits. To verify the validity of the obtained results, they are compared with those of Wong model, resulting in good agreement, but obtaining a lighter ensuring compile and shorter execution time, which are the main character...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Dynamic Population Balance Plant Simulator for Mineral Processing Circuits
Operational variables of a mineral processing circuit are subjected to different variations. Steady-statesimulation of processes provides an estimate of their ideal stable performance whereas their dynamicsimulation predicts the effects of the variations on the processes or their subsequent processes. In thispaper, a dynamic simulator containing some of the major equipment of mineral processing...
متن کاملA Minimal-Cost Inherent-Feedback Approach for Low-Power MRF-Based Logic Gates
The Markov random field (MRF) theory has been accepted as a highly effective framework for designing noise-tolerant nanometer digital VLSI circuits. In MRF-based design, proper feedback lines are used to control noise and keep the circuits in their valid states. However, this methodology has encountered two major problems that have limited the application of highly noise immune MRF-based circui...
